ACCA at edzeb

Most students are uncertain about the course that will actually determine their future when they first enter college. It was exactly the same for one of our young ACCA aspirants, a commerce student from Delhi, Aarav Dudeja. One piece of advice from his mentor changed everything.

Aarav was preparing for his college entrance exams at the time, and his mentor recommended him to go for ACCA with BCom (Hons) degree. It is a combination that leads to worldwide opportunities.

Aarav was encouraged by his mentor’s words and decided to take the plunge. “He said B.Com with ACCA is a wonderful combination,” Aarav remembers. “That stayed with me. I was looking for a career that was not typical commerce.”

So, this is the tale of Aarav, who managed to do college, professional studies, and personal development all at the same time. It demonstrates that with the right focus, mentorship, and guidance, even a regular B.Com student can produce something out of the ordinary.

Choosing the Right Institute and Mentors

It is important to choose the best institute for ACCA coaching. Without that, the qualification would serve no purpose. Only the right institute, like edZeb, has achieved GOLD partnership status, and experienced mentors can equip you with industry-relevant skills.

When Aarav began his ACCA journey, his mentor recommended the institute, and that is where he first came across Akhil Sir and Amit Sir. “When I was enrolled, Akhil Sir and Amit Sir were conducting the ACCA batches, and I joined them. I already knew how great they were as teachers.”

For Aarav, it was about mentors who genuinely cared about his progress. “Akhil Sir used to connect with me every two days to check how I was doing and whether I was facing any challenges,” he recalls. “The teachers were very responsive, and I really enjoyed studying with him.”

This consistent guidance became a strong foundation for Aarav. What began as classroom sessions soon turned into a mentor–student relationship built on trust and accountability. It is something that he credits as one of the biggest reasons behind his ACCA progress.

Balancing ACCA with BCom: A Journey of Discipline and Determination

Balancing two things is a task, and rather a challenging one. Aarav was already doing BCom, and now he had to manage it with his ACCA preparation. His ACCA exam schedule often clashed with his university exams. It’s making it tough to balance both commitments.

“There were times when the ACCA exam dates and my college exams overlapped,” he shares. “Once, in June, I was preparing for SBR and SBL, but my college had yet to release the date sheet until the last moment. When they finally did, I realised both were in the same month. I had to drop one and prepare for AFM instead.”

Despite the challenge, Aarav did not give up. He adapted quickly by restructuring his study plan and says, “I scored 61,” he adds with a smile, “but it was one and a half months of complete hustle.” So, below are some points to remember from his journey of balancing ACCA with BCom efficiently:

  • Smart schedule: Make a schedule for yourself as Aarav did. He designed his own timetable and kept each study session under 90 minutes to maintain focus.
  • Consistency: On average, he studied for 5–6 hours a day, depending on the number of papers he was preparing for. So, you can also follow a routine best suited for your ACCA prep.
  • Early practice: Practising in real, or learning by doing, helps alot. He says, “As soon as I finished a chapter, I started solving questions from it,” he says. “That really helped me strengthen concepts.”
  • Flexible learning: Do not leave behind your routine, attend classes regularly, be it offline or online. Aarav preferred online live classes for flexibility. He says, “Sometimes I attended live, sometimes recorded. It helped me learn at my own pace.”
  • No unnecessary pressure: He did not take any stress or pressure. He shares that “I didn’t stop hanging out with friends or taking breaks,” he laughs. “Short study sessions worked better for me than long hours.”

Therefore, his strategy was clearly not about overworking, but it was about staying consistent, using time wisely, and keeping the momentum alive and balanced ACCA with BCom very well.

Mentorship and Support: The Role of edZeb and Family

Every successful student has a support system behind him/her, and in his case, it was the combination of his mentors at edZeb and his family at home.

“Akhil Sir would get in touch every other day,” Aarav remembers. “He always wanted to know if I was having any problems. That sort of personal bond made an enormous difference.”

He also valued the faculty being so quick to respond and being so approachable. Whether it was on clearing a doubt, exam strategies, or personal guidance, Aarav felt he was never lost in the process. “If I had something unclear, I would either ask the teachers directly in class or message them afterwards. They always got back to me. I hardly ever had to put up a fight by myself.”

His family, not to forget, was also very much a part of the support system and played a big role in keeping his spirits high. He recounts the day when the ACCA results were declared — “The results were out at 4:30 a.m.,” he shares. “My parents were awake and so pleased to see my score. That was the time when all the late-night studies paid off.”

This combination of support, which included the teachers who guided him and the parents who backed him up, became the major factor that kept Aarav regular and sure of himself the whole way through his ACCA journey.

Why Aarav Chose ACCA and His Future Goals

For Aarav, choosing ACCA was just not a random academic decision. It was a well-thought-out step toward a global career. The idea first came from his entrance exam mentor, who told him that B.Com with ACCA make a powerful combination.

Later, when Aarav spoke to his cousin, who was already working in a multinational company. So, the idea became even clearer. “He had positive views about ACCA,” Aarav recalls. “He told me it’s well-recognised and helps you understand accounting at a global level.”

What really appealed to Aarav was the flexibility to pursue ACCA alongside his graduation. The course not only allowed him to study at his own pace but also gave him an early head start in building a professional qualification before even finishing college.

But Aarav’s ambitions didn’t stop there. He’s now planning to pursue CFA after completing ACCA — aiming to strengthen his expertise in finance. “ACCA is more accounting-oriented,” he explains. “I wanted to add finance to it. My mentor always said accounting and finance together make a great combination. That’s what I’m working toward.”

For him, ACCA is the foundation, and CFA will be the next step. It is a strategic blend that will help him build a truly global finance career.

Aarav’s Advice to Future ACCA Aspirants

Looking back at his journey, Aarav believes that success in ACCA doesn’t come from long study hours but from consistency, smart planning, and genuine interest in learning.

“I never studied for more than 90 minutes at a stretch,” he says. “Short sessions helped me stay focused. I’d complete a chapter and immediately start solving questions from it. That practice approach made a big difference.”

For students preparing for ACCA with BCom, Aarav shares a few lessons from his experience:

  • You can start early and plan smartly. ACCA exams are quarterly, so plan your papers in sync with your college schedule to avoid clashes.
  • You should focus on practice, not just theory. “As soon as you finish a topic, solve questions — that’s how you’ll remember concepts,” he says.
  • The best would be to use online flexibility wisely. Aarav preferred online classes for their comfort and time efficiency. “Sometimes I joined live sessions, sometimes I watched recordings. Both worked great.”
  • Always stay connected with your mentors. He credits Akhil Sir and Amit Sir for their constant guidance. “They checked on me regularly — that motivation really kept me going.”
  • And last but not least, you must balance your life and studies. “I didn’t completely cut off from friends or fun,” he laughs. “You just need to find your own rhythm.”

For Aarav, the secret lies in staying consistent rather than perfect. “ACCA isn’t easy,” he admits, “but with the right mentors and the right mindset, it’s completely achievable.”
