For Ayushi Sharma hailing from Jaipur, our ACCA student. It was never an accidental choice, rather “It was a planned decision,” she says. She already knew that she wanted to pursue BCom with ACCA and had already started thinking about how she could complete the qualification.
From Jaipur to Delhi: Why Ayushi Chose ACCA
Ayushi completed her schooling in commerce stream at her native place and she had also seen her family members working in the same industry. So, her interest in the field was natural as she recalls “I love maths”. Since then she was clear that she wanted to study commerce ahead as well.
After Class 12, Ayushi appeared for several college entrance exams and eventually joined one of the top commerce colleges in Delhi University, after clearing CUET. Along with that she had already decided to start her ACCA journey alongside her degree.
But the problem was that she wanted classroom coaching as she “didn’t want to do it online.” At that time, she could not find any learning partner in Jaipur. So, she took the next step and moved to Delhi. Her search for an ACCA coaching institute led her to edZeb, an ACCA approved Gold Learning Partner. “I searched them on Google,” she says. She also researched the faculty on LinkedIn before visiting us. After meeting the team and speaking with our very own CA Amit Jugia, she decided to begin her preparation.
Navigating the Challenges of Her ACCA Journey
“My journey is not that smooth,” she says, recalling the papers she could not clear in the first attempt. It was the biggest setback that came with Strategic Business Reporting (SBR), when she failed an ACCA paper for the first time in her life. The result was difficult to process, and she was genuinely upset.
Instead of starting the entire preparation from scratch, Ayushi immediately spoke to Akhil Sir. He helped her understand what might have gone wrong and prepared a clear plan for her next attempt. “You don’t need to go through the whole syllabus again. What you have to do is just do the case studies more,” she recalls him telling her.
That experience changed how Ayushi approached setbacks. She also realised that her biggest challenge was not always the syllabus. “Too much thinking,” she says. She would spend time worrying if a few days of preparation were lost and start thinking negatively about what might happen.
Over the time, she learned to focus on what was still in her control. “Don’t think much, just do it,” became one of the biggest lessons from her ACCA journey. By her final two papers, she put this approach into practice. And even while working, she was able to prepare well and perform strongly in her exams.
The Mentors Who Supported Ayushi Through ACCA
For Ayushi, one of the biggest strengths of her ACCA preparation was the support she received from her mentors. Instead, our faculty continued to check on her and helped her understand what needed to change like,
- Ayushi recalls how Akhil Sir would regularly check her progress and make sure she was still motivated. Whenever there was no progress, he would sit with her and understand where she was facing difficulty.
- She also credits Pushkar Sir for helping her with AFM and Amit Jugia Sir for teaching her how to approach ACCA exams strategically. “He always makes sure that you guys know what you have to read, what you have to do to get good marks in the paper,” she says.
- Initially, Ayushi was unsure whether the strategy would work, but seeing the results in her exams changed her perspective.
- Kapileshwar Bhalla Sir also made an impact during her PM preparation. Ayushi particularly appreciated the way he explained concepts and shared “in-depth knowledge” drawn from his teaching and industry experience.
The classroom experience, revision sessions and doubt classes are especially helpful. The questions were solved with them, helping them understand how to approach ACCA exam questions.
One lesson that stayed with her was to focus on quality rather than quantity while writing answers. As Ayushi explains, students can sometimes assume they need to write as much as the lengthy answers in the Kaplan or BPP kits. But Amit sir and Akhil sir helped her understand what examiners actually expect, making her preparation more focused and practical.
The Moment Ayushi Became an ACCA Affiliate
After navigating difficult papers and completing her final exams while working, Ayushi finally became an ACCA affiliate. In her words, “That was amazing. I can’t express my feelings right now, but that was so amazing”. More than excitement, the result brought her a sense of relief from the constant thought of having to study for her next paper as she would constantly have the thought, “I need to give my papers, I need to study.” Becoming an affiliate lifted that pressure and allowed her to focus on her career with a clearer mind.
“Now I’m relaxed,” she says. For Ayushi, becoming an ACCA affiliate was not just about completing the qualification. It was also about finally being able to look ahead and focus on what comes next.
Looking Ahead: Ayushi’s Advice to ACCA Aspirants
Now that she has become an ACCA affiliate, Ayushi is focusing on her career. She is currently working and wants to pursue an additional qualification be it an MBA or FRM or something else in the future as becoming an ACCA member comes first in her priority list. She is also open to opportunities with MNCs and moving abroad if the right opportunity comes along.
Looking back at her ACCA journey, she believes her biggest lesson was to stop overthinking and focus on what she could control. “Don’t think much, just do it,” she says as advised by CA Amit Jugia, her ACCA mentor.
She also recommends students seek the right guidance throughout their ACCA preparation.
