Beginning of His Journey
Samyak’s journey started with his decision to pursue ACCA. After completing his senior secondary, he chose the usual path of enrolling in BCom (Hons) at Delhi University. While completing his degree, he was curious about how far it could lead him. By the time he reached his final semester, he had started researching the options that could help him build a career in accounting and finance.
He came across ACCA, and what began as an independently researched career decision soon became a professional journey. He pursued our ACCA course alongside full-time work. Samyak started his preparation in March 2023, joined KPMG as an Audit Associate in May that year, and continued working towards the qualification while building his practical experience (ACCA PER) necessary to earn the credential. Today, he is an ACCA Member and has recently progressed to the role of Audit Executive.
Discovering ACCA Through His Own Research
Samyak completed his senior secondary education at Royal International School before pursuing B.Com (Hons.) at Delhi University. It was during the final phase of his graduation that he began looking for what’s next after his undergraduate degree.
He took it to Google and started searching, where Samyak discovered the qualification through his own research.
“I was looking at different qualifications that I could pursue after graduation. That is when I found out about ACCA and checked whether I am eligible to do it or not,” he recalls.
His initial plan was to continue building his career in Delhi. Once he understood the structure and relevance of the qualification, he decided to begin his preparation after completing his final semester examinations.
Starting ACCA While Building a Career
Pursuing the global qualification was final, but the real question was: from where? Like others, he also wanted the best ACCA course in Delhi. So one of his extended friends had already done financial modelling with us, and the suggestion came from there.
After graduation, Samyak began his professional preparation in March 2023, and just two months later, he started gaining experience as an Audit Associate.
This meant that his ACCA journey was no longer limited to classroom preparation. He was simultaneously gaining experience in a professional audit environment, where the real-life challenges were testing his knowledge and skills.
So, balancing the two required him to manage his time carefully, particularly during busy periods at work. However, he continued with his ACCA preparation and completed his examinations while working. At last, this combination of professional experience and qualification has helped him connect what he was studying with situations he encountered at work.
Learning That Went Beyond the Books
Samyak describes his ACCA learning experience as a combination of theoretical understanding and practical application. While not every subject translated directly into his day-to-day work, he found that concepts from some subjects were relevant to his professional responsibilities.
His experience in audit also allowed him to see how some of the concepts he studied could be applied in practice. This connection became particularly useful as he progressed in his career. Instead of viewing ACCA only as an examination-based qualification, he began to see its relevance to the work he was doing.
Finding the Right Support During ACCA Preparation
Samyak’s preparation experience was largely smooth, but he also encountered subjects where he needed additional support. As he says, and we quote, “I passed all my exams on the first attempt except one, which I failed by just 1 mark.”
Rather than continuing with a teaching approach that was not working for him, he communicated his difficulty directly with the faculty. And that led to additional guidance and support, including help from another faculty member when required. For him, this ability to communicate his difficulty was an important part of the learning experience.
He also appreciated the flexibility of recorded classes through access to the LMS when work or other commitments prevented him from attending a session. He could access the recording and bring his doubts to the following class.
This was particularly useful while he was managing ACCA preparation alongside a demanding professional schedule.
Completing ACCA Alongside Full-Time Work
One of the defining aspects of Samyak’s journey was that he did not complete ACCA in isolation from his career.
He was already working in audit while pursuing the qualification. As a result, his professional experience was developing alongside his academic progress, which fulfilled the PER condition to become an ACCA member. The experience also helped him build confidence in communicating what he knew.
Looking back at his journey, Samyak says that one of the changes he noticed was greater confidence in expressing his knowledge and understanding in a professional setting.
For him, ACCA was therefore not only about completing examinations. It became part of his wider professional development.
From ACCA Qualification to ACCA Membership
Completing the examinations was not the final milestone for Samyak. His professional experience also played an important role in progressing towards ACCA Membership.
By the time his examination requirements were completed, he had already accumulated substantial professional experience. He subsequently completed the required process for membership, including the necessary approvals through his professional workplace.
Samyak describes the process as relatively straightforward once his requirements were fulfilled.
Becoming an ACCA Member marked an important transition in his journey—from someone pursuing the qualification to a finance professional who had completed the requirements for professional membership.
Growing Professionally at KPMG
Samyak’s career has progressed alongside his ACCA journey. He joined KPMG as an Audit Associate in May 2023 and has since progressed to the position of Audit Executive, just after gaining the credential.
His experience in audit has also influenced how he views the relevance of ACCA to his career. The qualification has given him a stronger understanding of concepts that are relevant to his professional responsibilities, while his work experience has helped him put some of that knowledge into practice.
The combination has also contributed to greater confidence in his professional abilities.
Today, with ACCA Membership behind him and further professional experience ahead, Samyak sees the qualification as a useful part of his career journey rather than an endpoint.
What Samyak Appreciated About His edZeb Experience
For Samyak, one of the important aspects of his experience with edZeb was the ability to communicate openly when he faced difficulties with a particular subject or teaching approach.
He also valued the availability of faculty support and recorded classes, particularly because he was managing his studies alongside full-time employment.
When asked to rate his overall experience, Samyak placed it around 4.5 to 5 out of 5 and specifically recalled the support he received when he communicated his concerns.
His experience highlights an important part of professional exam preparation: students may have different learning requirements, and being able to communicate those requirements can make a difference to their preparation.
Looking Beyond ACCA Membership
For Samyak, becoming an ACCA Member is a significant milestone, but it is not the end of his professional journey.
With experience in audit, progression at KPMG and the qualification now completed, he can focus on building the next stage of his career.
His journey also reflects how professional qualifications and practical experience can develop alongside each other. He began by independently researching his options after graduation. Today, he has completed Membership and is continuing to grow as an audit professional.
For students considering ACCA with BCom or after their graduation, Samyak’s journey offers a practical perspective: the qualification can be pursued alongside a professional career, and the learning can become more meaningful when academic concepts are connected with workplace experience.
From researching the qualification during his final year at Delhi University to becoming an ACCA Member while building his career in audit, Samyak Jain’s journey has been one of steady progression, practical learning and professional growth.
